MagneTalk® Turns & Topics®

Teach basic game play and improve language development with MagneTalk Turns & Topics. Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) enjoy playing games, but often “regular” game boards are too overwhelming and confusing. The simple game boards and basic Topic Cards in MagneTalk Turns & Topics are specifically for children with ASDs. The targeted games allow students to have fun and increase their concentration skills gradually while they learn basic game playing and communication skills.

The four Turns & Topics magnetic boards increase in difficulty to allow each child to improve skills at his/her own pace. The 166 Topic Cards improve basic language skills by covering eight important areas of communication: Feelings, Numbers, Letters, Basic Concepts, Seasons & Weather, “WH” Questions, Nouns, and Verbs. The white backgrounds on the boards and cards limit distractions, while the Giant Magnetic Pawns are good for children with limited fine-motor skills.

I love this interactive game! You can use this so many different ways. I am using it for my younger clients who have limited speech. They often ask for it as it is so interactive. Thanks, SD, for introducing this game to me!

Short and simple — no more needs to be said about this incredible game. It’s just as the description said. My students love it! Great for varying levels of ability. Easy to handle. The illustrations on the cards are not confusing. Wonderful & fun tool to elicit cooperative play, following directions, and happy talk. Who would have thought that school and therapy could be so fun!

I really like this game. I bought it for my daughter with autism. It is real easy to follow, has four levels so it can grow as the child does, it has some personalized questions along with feelings, weather, basic concepts and more. The big magnetic pawns, color and number dice are nice too.

  5. Very Versatile Game

I love this game. It is the perfect "first game" for students. Great opportunities for turn-taking. I love the large game pieces...so easy for our younger ones to hold on to! I also love how many different areas can be addressed...literacy, concepts, wh-questions, etc. Finally, I am very impressed with how easy it is to use with a group that is at different levels...non-verbal up to highly verbal and everything in between!

  6. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

This game is absolutely wonderful! Our daughter uses a communication device to speak and we purchased the game to help her learn how to use her new device. (ie. where symbols are, etc.) Rather than having formal sessions we were able to ask her the questions on the cards in a variety of categories and show her where on her device she can answer. It was truly a win win situation. It expanded not only her vocabulary but her ability to functionally answer a variety of questions; all while having fun! As I said we LOVE this game!

This game is great, because it has so many levels built into 1 game! Not only does it cover a variety of language topics, it allows for many ability levels to participate, as you can use the same cards for everyone. I would highly recommend SLP's working in the school setting to buy this game.

  11. Basic skills for kids on the spectrum

This item is good with young kids on the spectrum. I think that it is very basic and would not be appropriate for kids older than 2nd or 3rd grade. I am a little disappointed in it due to it's simplicity. I can see myself using it with Pre-k and Kiddergarten for emerging skills.

I absolutely love this game for my 7 year old son with ASD. Regular game boards are so overwhelming and these are so simple. Plus you get a choice of 4 boards to increase the difficulty. He's working on wh questions, numbers, letters, basic concepts, etc that you can get so much learning in a fun way. I already recommended this game to his special needs school.

I used this with a group of multiply disabled students of varied levels. It was hit. They were thrilled with the magnet game pieces. We targeted answering questions...met standards and IEP objectives! There are still tons more cards to try! Love it.

I LOVE the Madne Talk Turns & Topics game; I use it with students who have low cognitive levels as well as my autistic student. All of them are intrigued by the colors, the "chunkiness" of the playing pieces & chips, and how easy it is to manipulate all the pieces. Great item; one of my favorites!

The large game pieces are easily manipulated by "little hands"! The magnetic game boards fascinate the students and keep accidents to a minimum. There are so many ways to use "MagneTalk Turns & Topics". Best of all--the students think they're playing a game when they're really working!
