Basic Concepts Chipper Chat®
Basic Concepts Chipper Chat is a fun and motivating magnetic chip game designed to help students learn and use basic concepts both receptively and expressively in five categories: Qualitative, Quantitative, Social-Emotional, Spatial, and Temporal.
There are 81 concept pairs (Hot/Cold) and concept-related words (First, Second, Third). The student listens to the prompts and identifies the concept word receptively by pointing to an illustrated picture of the concept on the front of the card. The student identifies the concept word expressively as the teacher/therapist points to a picture and reads an incomplete prompt—for example, “This drink is hot. This drink is _____.” Student answers, “Cold.” The concepts presented in this game align to Common Core State Standards.
Basic Concepts Chipper Chat includes ten sets of four open-ended game boards (40 game boards total). There are 33–78 cards in each category (three cards per concept pair for 243 total cards). Three prompt cards per pair illustrate and use the concepts in different contexts.

Basic Concepts Chipper ChatLove this game for the extensive library of basic concepts included. I use the cards outside of the chipper chat part of the game. This game really needs an attached Data Sheet to keep track of basic concepts mastered. Please include a downloadable data sheet Super Duper. Great product!

Easy to use for so many targets!I love using this game with SO many of my students! My younger ones practice the basic concepts alone while my older kids create their own sentences with the cards practicing grammar, etc!

Great teaching toolI like this for the fact that it lets you start with nonverbal and work toward verbal answers. This is great for teaching and understanding the concepts. I would like to see more games teaching behaviors and safety. Like pinching, biting self and others, taking bags at grocery stores, going behind cashier counter, putting things in pockets at store,no running in store or parking lot.

Chipper ChatStudents enjoy using the wand and chips while practicing basic concepts. The boards, wand, and chips can also be used as reinforcers when working on other goal areas (e.g. speech sounds, following directions, answering WH-questions etc.).

Lots to Cover in a Little Time?Loving this game because I can flex it to work with K and above who need to work on basic concepts. Each skill set has 2 levels, making weekly focused lesson plans that cross different levels easy. The kids love the magnet wand.

Chipper chatThis kit has all the main concepts I am working on with my kids. They love the magnetic chips but not all the cards are needed, I wish there were more descriptive concepts; other than that, it's a great kit!
