Silly Sets™ Card Deck
Help your students develop their listening skills and produce correct speech patterns with these fun minimal pairs cards! Minimal pairs are often used in the treatment of phonological process disorders. Minimal pairs are pairs of words that differ by only one sound (such as "tea" and "key").
Silly Sets has 100 illustrated minimal pair picture cards to show children how changing one sound in a word can affect the meaning of an entire sentence – often with silly results! Silly Sets targets four different phonological processes, including Final Consonant Deletion, Cluster Reduction, Fronting, and Stopping.
Silly Sets: Minimal Pairs for Maximum Progress:
- 100 full-color cards (3" x 5") that are easy for small hands to hold
- Color-coded cards for easy sorting by phonological process
- Content and game idea cards
- Packaged in sturdy storage box

Silly Sets - Minimal PairsI really like the idea behind this product! It makes discrimination tasks fun for children and clearly indicates how incorrect articulation (or a phonological process) impacts word meaning. I’ve had a lot of laughs from my kindergarten kiddos!
-
Portable Minimal PairsThere is a variety of minimal pairs in a portable box. Great for a quick take and go activity!
-
Details too smallI rarely use these with my first and second grade students. Some of the cards are great, but some of the details that are relevant to the discrimination task are very small and difficult for my students to see.
-
Great product! My students love these. They giggle and laugh at the various silly situations.
-

Silly SetsMy kindergarteners love these cards. They are just gaining awareness of their final consonant deletions and the visual pairing on these cards is perfect for them. Plus, they see the silliness that can happen when they do not put all of the sounds in their words!
-
Perfect! These have been so helpful for my students. They not only hear, but SEE what they are doing wrong. Thank you!

Funny!Kids find these pretty funny. Although I wouldn't spend a whole session on these, they are a fun way to do some minimal pair practice with no extra prep. Most pictures are easy for kids to understand. There are few that are obscure. Overall, I'm quite pleased with them.
