One of the kindergarten standards is answering questions about a story. I have several kids that really struggle with this. My aide has been using these short stories one on one with my kids and they are improving! Next year we will do this in small groups and also whole class where they share with a partner the answers.

I decided to buy this deck, because my full-time internship supervisor had it and I found it to be really useful then! I plan to use it with some of the students I see when school starts again in August.

  6. Auditory memory for short stories
This product works great with so many different kids that I see. Originally, I was worried that the stories would be too short and simple for my kiddos, but they have been perfect. I have been using these with 2nd-5th graders in mild-moderate special day class, as well as with general ed. 3rd graders and they have been challenging and fun for all the kids. Great product!

  10. Auditory Memory for Short Stories Fun Deck®
I have used this deck with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Though these stories are short, the questions remain challenging for some students which is great. It helps them really turn on their "listening ears" and work hard to retain information. Great deck!

  11. Very very helpful and love the variety of stories
I got this recently and its been my favorite for kids aged 5-7yrs. It's flexible and I can add my own one or two extra details to the stories depending on the goals. I use it for a wide range of activities/goals. Not only useful for story recall but can target grammar- modeling sentences with pronouns, tenses, and adjectives (just to name a few), answering "wh" and inferential questions. Bottom line is, its a very flexible and interesting deck of colorful, fun and short stories for young kids considering their attention span. My kids love it! Great buy!

I have been looking for something to help my son with reading. At this point he cannot read or write but I was looking for short stories with questions , that he can answer to see what he can recall from a story. We both love these. I would recommend this product to everyone.

  17. Great fun activity to foster listening
I ordered this fundeck with a few kindergarten clients in mind, some who have comprehension issues, some who have auditory processing issues, some who have listening issues, memory issues and/or attention issues. I use a few cards at a time, and I help the children infer meaning from the illustration on the face of the card, then I read the back--and review the questions with them as we 'listen again for the answers'--the children love it. Some early-readers enjoy reciprocating--and I use that also as reading comprehension task as well as articulation carryover.

It is such as relief as a parent of a child with auditory difficulties to finally find tools that can help one's child. I am so grateful that your team has developed these incredibly well tailored games that help my child strengthen the muscles she needs to function better at school. 34. Worth buying!
I teach ESL to students in K-8. This particular deck is a little simple for my older group, but it is perfect for my younger students! My 2nd graders had so much fun the first time that we played with this deck that they were asking to play with them again later the same day! Listening for information is not an easy skill when you are learning a language, and yet they are having so much fun with these cards that it becomes a game for them. Thank you!

I just got this deck and used it for therapy with a small group. One of the students diagnosed with Autism who I stuggle with getting him to participate and respond, answered all 3 WH questions from the story after I read them to him twice and did give him phonemic cues for the answers. IT was a great accomplishment! He participated, and showed me that he comprehends more than we think! I am happy and want to continue using this cards with him, to the point where hopefully he will answeer the questions by looking at the picture on the card only, and fade out the phonemic cues!! thanks!

The auditory memory for short stories fun deck is great. It provides varying lengths of stories for the student to remember and the stories are not complex. I also like that the questions are not exactly the same on each card so it changes it up but you could still ask a child a question that is not present. I love these cards and even use the front pictures to just talk about a story or make up our own before we even read it! Great multi-use product!
