Webber® Functional Communication Game

Teach non-verbal students to communicate using Mayer-Johnson Boardmaker Picture Communication Symbols with these amusing, motivating games. The five game formats (Functional World of Communication Game, Spinning with Communication, Communication Bingo, Lotto, and Tic-Tac-Toe) cover daily topics, and allow students with varying motor and verbal skills to participate in games they often would not be able to participate in due to their fine motor or communication abilities.

Students place markers on bingo, lotto, and tic-tac-toe boards, move game pieces around the game board, and hit a flashing spinner to earn tokens when answering questions. Activities and boards allow the SLP to plan a therapy session without spending hours making boards and provide 1,611 expressive and receptive questions and commands for student practice.

Webber Functional Communication Games contains eleven topic areas.

  • Places
  • playground/park
  • Hygiene
  • Senses
  • Feelings
  • Around town—transportation and community helpers
  • Objects
  • Small group—weather/seasons and days of the week
  • Food/drink
  • School
  • Social

Each topic area includes two different communication boards with 18 receptive cards and 18 expressive cards that target matching, identification, sentence completion, and responding to questions. In addition to teaching non-verbal students to use augmentative communication, the games are great for working with preschoolers with language delays, children with autism and hearing impairments, and children who respond well to visual cues.

Webber Functional Communication:

  • 44 double-sided communication boards (9½" x 11")
  • 11 topic areas with two different boards per topic, 9 pictures per board

I absolutely love this product. I am able to use it with artic and language kids. We play bingo, or with my really low PPCD students, I will tell them to point to the _________. We can talk about plurals or what goes with this. We can use it for how are a ___________ and a ________ alike? How are they different?

  4. A big hit!
This was just what I was looking for to address communication with my lkife skills/ MOID students. Many options for game play, and easy for my lower level kids to understand and play. I love the large game pieces!

  5. Fyi
The player pieces are huge, as is the game box. The game is also very heavy. This is *not* a game for carrying around. It's too heavy to carry in your arms, and too big to fit in a the type of cart therapists typically use. The game is as described. They just didn't talk about size.

  6. Functional Communication
My student and the rest of her class are extremely pleased to be able to play and communicate with each other. It is such a pleasure to watch as my student, who is non verbal, feel at ease with her classmates as she is now being accepted for who she is. Thank you so much for your dedication to all children with your wonderful products.

  7. Great Product!
I really like the Webber Functional Communication Boards. It really cuts down on planning time as much of the work is already done for you. It help to have different levels of questions, so I can use the product with my high and low kids. I don't use the spinner much in therapy as I think the kids would be distracted by it, but really enjoy using the boards to play lotto!

  9. Communication Kit for a fresh graduate
I just graduated from graduate school and will be starting my CFY at the end of July. I have reviewed all the materials and even made up some games of my own! This kit includes a lot of materials that I will need in order to help my future clients communicate effectively and achieve independence. I am extremely pleased with the kit and can't wait to use it!

I enjoy your products and love your language games/activities. I would like more interactive products and language stimulating toys for early childhood. I work with many pre-kindergarten students and would benefit from a larger variety of products for children at this age. I love the fluency enhancing tools and the Magne Talk activities.

As a mother of a fourth-grader who has Asperger's, I particularly enjoy all of the games and social skills activities that you have available. All of your products appear to be so fun and enjoyable for the kids, that they probably don't even realize that they are picking up some very important life skills while they are playing them. That's important, because, after all, why shouldn't social skills games be just as entertaining as any childrens game? You guys obviously 'get' kids ---thanks!!!

Free shipping is another plus that makes me reach for the Super Duper catalog first when I am looking for materials. One of the products that I like the most is Webber Functional Communication.
