What Do You Say...What Do You Do...® In the Community?

Prepare your students for life outside the home and classroom! What Do You Say...What Do You Do... In the Community? is an interactive, open-ended game that builds social and decision-making skills appropriate for a variety of situations.

Students move around the colorful community game board and answer social-skills questions. With each correct answer, they collect a token and try to fill a token strip. The first to fill the token strip, or collect the most tokens, wins!

Students will visit places on the game board common to all communities: doctor's office, police station, library, fire station, hospital, courthouse, city hall, park, grocery store, restaurants, and more. The Social Situation Cards target several different settings. The open-ended questions encourage students to problem-solve and are excellent for role-play.

  3. fun series
    Quality
    80%
The "What Do You Say...What Do You Do" series has been a fantastic tool for social language development. The Community version assumes that the child has had experience with many aspects in the community such as restaurants, zoos, and the courthouse. This can be a good motivator for parents to actually expose their children to these places, but can be difficult to elicit appropriate responses with no prior experience.

  6. Great game with Multi-functionality
Great scenarios that can be used with or without the game board/pieces. Plenty of picture cards to use makes it difficult for patients to memorize answers--even after use of game session after session!

  12. Interactive Social Community Game
What do you say, What do you do in the community has become an important part of my social skills lessons for Autistic and Life Skills support Classes in a High School setting. This game allows me to tap into all areas of communication that are lacking in my students. I can use it for directions, answering "WH" questions, matching , yes/no queations, and problem solving in social situations in the community. My students enjoy the game participation while I engage them in valuable life lessons. I would recommend this game to any therapist working with students at the middle and high school levels that need to engage students functioning at many different levels of social communication in a group lesson.

Not only is this a great therapy tool for those children with AS, but it also a great tool for those language students who need more work on WH questions. The students are highly motivated by collecting each colored token to fill their color strip. I use this for the middle school ages, but it can also be used for the younger ones.

As a mother of a fourth-grader who has Asperger's, I particularly enjoy all of the games and social skills activities that you have available. All of your products appear to be so fun and enjoyable for the kids, that they probably don't even realize that they are picking up some very important life skills while they are playing them. That's important, because, after all, why shouldn't social skills games be just as entertaining as any childrens game? You guys obviously 'get' kids ---thanks!!!
