Flavoured Tongue DepressorsI find these a bit more fun for my students than unflavoured tongue depressors. I also like them better than using a lollipop etc. since some of my school have a healthy snack policy and prefer not to have candy given to students during the school day. These have worked great for eliciting K and G as well as coaching tongue placement for other sounds.

Ice breaker!Tongue depressors are scary to kids. I tell them that it has a special flavor and let them choose. After the first lick, the flavored tongue depressors are really enjoyable to the kids. In fact they ask me to use it again and again just so that they can taste it. It's like candy without the sugar and calories.

As good as it gets!I first demonstrate on my tongue (with my OWN depressor)what I will be doing with the child's tongue. When they see what is going to happen, it seems to lessen their anxiety. No one likes tongue depressors, but if one HAS to be used, these are the best choice!

Handy and kid-friendly!I always like having some of these flavored tongue depressors on hand with my young clients. I call it a "yummy" stick and it is a good way to gain the child's acceptance when trying to do some oral-motor stimulation and exercises. This is a staple for every SLP.

Ration these - though go like lightning!Flavored Tongue Depressors - aka - 'candy sticks' the kids call 'em. I've learned to use the grape sparingly as it's the most popular flavor for kids and they tend to over-salivate and suck on the stick instead of saying sounds! :) Great product, can't wait to order more!

I work mainly with adults,...I work mainly with adults, so I use the oral-motor products mostly with my dysphagia (swallowing) patients. They appreciate the flavored tongue depressors versus the wood flavor, especially since it may be the first thing they have been able to taste in a long time.
