STAR Program Bundle (Levels 1, 2 & 3)

The STAR Program Bundle is a comprehensive, three-level program based on Applied Behavioral Analysis, using Discrete Trial (DT), Pivotal Response (PRT), and Functional Routine (FR) training strategies. The STAR Program helps students with autism and other developmental disabilities master receptive, expressive, and spontaneous language; functional skills; pre-academic concepts; and play and social interaction concepts.

Now in its second edition, the improved and enhanced STAR Program encompasses the latest research on evidence-based practices, includes feedback from professionals’ implementation and training on the program, and presents the authors’ knowledge gained from experiences over the last ten years. The primary goal of the program revision was to ease the program’s implementation with fidelity.

Level I – Learning Goals

  • Understand basic language concepts
  • Start using verbal language to request desires
  • Follow simple routines such as arrival to and departure from an activity area, circle time, or snack time
  • Begin participating in independent constructive play

Level II – Learning Goals

  • Follow 2-step commands
  • Use multiple words to make requests
  • Use simple verbs such as “sleeping, eating and crying”
  • Learn the names of other children
  • Play interactively
  • Identify numbers, letters, and a few sight words
  • Answer “wh” questions

Level III – Learning Goals

  • Expand vocabulary and phrase length
  • Use prepositions and pronouns
  • Read more functional sight words
  • Write with dictation and from memory
  • Read a simple story in a book
  • Identify and use money
  • Tell time and use this skill with their classroom schedule
  • Add and subtract one digit numbers
  • Follow more complex routines such as computer use, transitioning between locations, and large group activities in and out of the classroom
  • Participate in school routines such as music, PE, lunch, and recess
  • Play interactively with peers

    I enjoy your products and love your language games/activities. I would like more interactive products and language stimulating toys for early childhood. I work with many pre-kindergarten students and would benefit from a larger variety of products for children at this age. I love the fluency enhancing tools and the Magne Talk activities.

    I would like to see a counselling section that includes anger management resources and grief. I enjoyed the social skills section the most.

    As a mother of a fourth-grader who has Asperger's, I particularly enjoy all of the games and social skills activities that you have available. All of your products appear to be so fun and enjoyable for the kids, that they probably don't even realize that they are picking up some very important life skills while they are playing them. That's important, because, after all, why shouldn't social skills games be just as entertaining as any childrens game? You guys obviously 'get' kids ---thanks!!!

  8. Great for Students!
    This is a great curriculum that is helping all the students in my special day class learn. It makes Discrete trail easy to implement in a classroom setting. The curriculum does require trainging, and is not the easiest to just pick up and use, but once you get it going students who have struggled to learn will start to make good progress.
