The WORD Test 3 Elementary provides information about how a student’s expressive vocabulary and semantic skills affect classroom performance. This norm-referenced assessment measures a student’s ability to recognize and express semantic attributes critical to vocabulary growth and language competency. The WORD Test 3 Elementary evaluates skills that correlate with word mastery, reading comprehension, and overall academic success. Test items use curriculum-related vocabulary.

Valid and Reliable
The WORD Test 3 Elementary standardization sample included 1,302 subjects whose demographics match the most current US census. Test-retest coefficient is .91 for the total test; inter-rater reliability for the entire test is 93%, indicating satisfactory reliability. Results of validity testing indicate that this measure satisfactorily differentiates students with language disorders from students with typical language development, as item consistency is 87%.
